ON Sunday a day of remembrance was observed at all the places of worship, where large congregations assembled. Appropriate hymns were sung and the prayers were suitable to the historic occasion. At the parish council there was no parade of public bodies, that being reserved for Sunday next, being Mayor’s Sunday, when there will be a civic parade, which will assemble in Market Place.
The annual meeting of the town council for the election of Mayor for the ensuing year was held on Monday in the council chamber. Councillor H Monk said it was his privilege to submit the name of Councillor Dr Susman as the Mayor for the ensuing year.
