A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD boy and his five-year-old sister have donated £500 to help cerebral palsy sufferer Chloe Russell get a new “walker”. Cameron and Leanora Smee, of Crazies Hill, pledged their savings after Cameron read the story about Chloe, nine, in last week’s Standard. Cameron’s father, Roger, rang the paper to make the offer saying his children were struck by Chloe’s plight.
Environmental protesters demonstrated on Henley Bridge against cuts in fuel tax. They carried a banner reading: “Max the Tax! Cars = Rain” to highlight the damage that they believe car exhaust fumes cause to the environment. The protest was led by Chris Aldridge, of the Caversham-based activist group.
