Maidenhead Warriors u9s

--

The sun shone for the second of the Thames Valley Football Development League finals days this weekend, with more than 150 players converging on Arbour Park in Slough to see which sides would be lifting silverware.

With the event well supported by parents, families and friends, there was a good atmosphere for the matches and plenty of skilled football on show.

In the u9s league plate final, Maidenhead Warriors claimed the title with a 4-2 win over Singh Sabha Lions. The Warriors took the lead through Fred Snoxell and then a stranglehold on the final when Snoxell found the net for a second time. Riley Martin and Alessio Griksas added to their lead while Singh Sabha never let their heads drop and replied with two goals of their own before the end.

In the two other u9s finals, Hurricane Gold defeated Burnham Junior Blue 2-1 to lift the League Cup and the League Vase went home with Harefield United White following their 3-0 victory over Taplow United Blue.

At u10s level, Townmead Blue edged out Sporttiers White 1-0 in a closely fought league cup final, while the Langley Lycans eased to a 5-0 win over Sandgate to win the League Trophy. The Plate was lifted by Slough Town Juniors who defeated Langley Youth 4-2.

In the u11s League Cup final, Singh Sabha Lions coped better with the soaring temperatures as they raced away from Explorers Blues for a 7-2 win.

The sides were locked at 2-2 following an even first half, however, in energy sapping conditions, the Lions scored five goals without reply to get their hands on the cup.

The last final of the day was a low scoring but gripping contest between Berks Elite and Singh Sabha Lions in the u12s League Cup.

With excellent displays from both sides in the first half, the game remained goalless at the interval, however, Berks Elite forged ahead midway through the second half following a well-worked move down the wing which resulted in a tap in at the back post. In response, Singh Sabha stepped up their game, but they couldn’t find a way past Berks Elite's impressive defence.
