St Edward’s Middle School u12s football team have reached the semi-finals of a national cup competition after edging out Millfield Prep School 2-1 in last week’s quarter final clash.
The Windsor-based school is competing in the ESFA U12s Small Schools Cup and have so far beaten five teams to reach the final stages of the competition.
Should they defeat RGS Guilford in the semi-finals on Friday, March 6, they’ll advance to the final of the competition at the Hawthorns - home to West Bromwich Albion - in May.
St Edwards have conceded just three goals and have scored 15 on route to the semi-final stage.
They proved much too strong for local rivals LVS Ascot in round one, beating them 6-1 away from home.
Radnor House Twickenham were defeated 2-0 away in the next round to set up a third-round clash with City of London Freeman’s School. This clash was closer but St Edward’s prevailed 2-1 to advance into the latter stages.
St Michael’s CofE Middle School were swept aside 3-0 at home in the fourth round ahead of last week’s hard-earned 2-1 victory over Millfield Prep School, a game that was also played on home soil.
They’ll kick off at 2pm on Friday, March 6 against RGS Guildford for a place in the final in May.
