Maidenhead’s MP is inviting primary school children from across the area to come up with a cracking design for his official Christmas card.
More than 20 years ago, the Advertiser teamed up with the town’s former MP, Theresa May, to hold a competition for young people to design a card to be sent to politicians, community figures and dignitaries from around the world.
The competition has taken place every year since then and, for the first time, a new MP is set to continue the
tradition.
Lib Dem MP Joshua Reynolds, who was elected in July, is inviting children aged 11 and under who live in the Maidenhead constituency to come up with a design under the theme of ‘Christmas in Maidenhead’.
The winning entry will be chosen by Mr Reynolds – with the help of a judging panel – and printed before being sent across Maidenhead, the UK and beyond.
The winning entry will also receive a family day ticket to Legoland Windsor.
Mr Reynolds said: “I’m delighted to be launching my Christmas card competition for 2024.
“I can’t wait to see the unique designs young people across Maidenhead are able to create.
“With the winning design going out to households right across Maidenhead, and wider to other MPs, dignitaries, and world leaders – I’m really looking forward to it.”
Entries for the competition should be sent to Maidenhead Advertiser, 48 Bell Street, Maidenhead, SL6 1HX.
The suggested size is A5. Designs need to be bold and bright and preferably done in paint, felt tips or crayons as coloured pencils do not reproduce well when printed.
Two-dimensional designs are preferred as materials like glitter and cotton wool do not work when printed.
Entries should also include the full name, age and school or organisation (such as a cub or brownie pack) of the entrant as well as a parent’s name, address and phone number.
The closing date for entries is November 4, with judging to take place soon afterwards.
