Today marks the 63rd anniversary of the Queen's accession to the throne.
On February 6, 1952 her father King George VI died while she and her husband, Prince Philip, were in Kenya.
The tour was abandoned and Princess Elizabeth was flown back to Britain, where she was greeted, as Queen, by Prime Minister Winston Churchill.
Her coronation took place at Westminster Abbey on June 2, 1953 and was broadcast on radio and television.
This year, in September, the Queen will become the longest-reigning monarch in British history, overtaking Queen Victoria. She will have ruled for over 63 years.
A Royal Walkway for Windsor is set to be unveiled by the Outdoor Trust to mark the occasion.
The Queen has marked the anniversary today at Sandringham, where she is staying for her annual winter break.
