Eid al-Fitr 2026: Events talking place across East Berkshire

09:45PM, Thursday 19 March 2026

Muslims across the Maidenhead, Slough and Windsor are getting ready for the upcoming Eid al-Fitr celebrations.

The festival signifies the end of the holy month of Ramadan, which is one of the Five Pillars of Islam and sees Muslims fast from dawn until dusk for about a month.

The three-day Eid al-Fitr celebrations start after the sighting of a new crescent moon and festivities will see families and friends gather to enjoy food and exchange gifts.

With celebrations due to start this week, a host of events are planned across the area.

MAIDENHEAD

Maidenhead Mosque is set to hold an Eid prayer and sermon to mark the occasion.

Following this, families and friends will gather to meet one another and celebrate the end of Ramadan.

Guests at the mosque will also enjoy free refreshments and hot drinks.

Zia Mahiudin, a trustee at Maidenhead Mosque, said: "It is a joyful occasion where people come together to share food, exchange greetings and spend time with loved ones.

"Eid is a time of gratitude, generosity and togetherness. It's always wonderful to see our community come together after Ramadan, and we also welcome neighbours and friends from all backgrounds who wish to share in the celebrations.

"Moments like this help strengthen the sense of community that makes Maidenhead such a special place to live."

The Al-Tawheed Islamic Education Centre Maidenhead (TIECM) is set mark the occasion with an Eid in the Park celebration in Kidwells Park.

Entry will be from 8am, with prayers commencing from 9am.

Guests are asked to arrive by 8.15am, for a 9am start.

The event will also offer free ice cream and bouncy castle/slides.

In the event of wet weather, the celebration will be held at the TIECM mosque in Cookham Road, and messages will be broadcast on TIECM's social media channels.

In this case, there would be two indoor prayer sittings at 8.30am and 10am.

Irfan Rafiq, event director at TIECM, said: “Eid is a special time of celebration, gratitude and community for Muslims.

"We are delighted to bring people together at Kidwells Park to mark the end of Ramadan with prayer, joy and family activities.

"Everyone in Maidenhead is welcome to come along, learn about the celebration and share in the spirit of community.”

SLOUGH

Prayers will be held at Jamia Ghousia Masjid to mark Eid al-Fitr.

The mosque in Diamond Road will hold a total of four prayer sittings, at 8am, 9am, 10am and 10.45am.

WINDSOR

Community members will gather at Dedworth Manor Park on Friday for the Windsor Muslim Association's annual Eid in the Park celebration.

The event will start with prayers and a sermon from 9am at the park in Hanover Way.

Following this, guests will get the opportunity to mingle and enjoy food, ice cream and activities.

A police car will also be on show for youngsters at the event.

Royal Borough councillors, including mayor Cllr Mandy Brar, have also been invited to the event.
