Friday

SLOUGH: A railway workshop is taking place at the next Slough and Windsor Railway Society’s Friday Nights at the Manor today (Friday).

Guest speaker will be Grahame Robinson who will be speaking about Ipswich and Queensland. Event starts at 7.45pm. Tickets cost £5 for members and £6 for non-members.

 


 

SLOUGH: Three Shakespeare plays will be performed in just 45 minutes at Slough Library today (Friday). The show is due to start at 4pm. Tickets cost £5 for adults and £3 for children.

 


 

SUNNINGHILL: Take a trip back to the Eighties in Cordes Hall tonight at 7pm.

We Love the 80s will be performed by FASBAT (Find A Space and Be A Tree) and the Marist School.

Tickets cost £9.50 for adults and £8.50 for children.

SUNNINGHILL: A former star from one of the nation’s best-loved soap operas will help relaunch a charity shop in Sunninghill today (Friday).

Anita Dobson, best known for her role as Angie Watts in EastEnders, plans to cut the ribbon on the new-look Thames Hospice shop in Sunninghill High Street.

The 66-year-old will be joined at the relaunch by Sunninghill Parish Council chairman Allison Sharpe.

Customers can enjoy a slice of celebratory cake before they browse the revamped shop which will feature womenswear, men’s fashion and children’s toys and games.

The event starts at 12pm.

 


 

WINDSOR: A portrait gallery is launching today (Friday) to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday next week.

The exhibition in King Edward Court Shopping Centre has been put together to mark the unique relationship the monarch has with the town.

Supported by Windsor, Eton & Ascot Town Partnership, it will include portraits of the Queen in and around Windsor.

It will run until her birthday, on Thursday from 10am-4pm daily before moving around the town.

 


 

Saturday

COOKHAM DEAN: A collection of vintage vehicles will be on display at the cricket club in Whyteladyes Lane this Saturday as part of an annual event.

Vintage cars, vans and bikes will be on show to the delight of petrol heads from 1.30pm to 5pm and businesses will also set up stalls including tombolas, food and drink.

All proceeds will go to Thames Hospice and entry is free.

 


 

SLOUGH: A brand new art studio is due to launch at the Queensmere Shopping Centre tomorrow (Saturday). Visitors to the centre in the High Street, can see the studio between 10am until 6pm.

Open every day, the studio will host arts and crafts for children aged three to eight.

There will also be professional art classes for children aged 11 years and over and adults.

 


 

TWYFORD: The annual Twyford & Ruscombe Spring Show will return on Saturday to showcase a range of garden-based exhibits.

Categories include flowers, fruit and vegetables, handicraft, photography and art.

The public can visit the show at Loddon Hall from 2.30pm and there will be tea and homemade cakes.

Sunday

ASCOT: A choice of fresh produce, pies and plants will be on offer at the Ascot Farmers’ Market on Sunday.

The market is located in Car Park 3 and there will be around 20 stalls as well as free on-site parking.

 


 

COOKHAM DEAN: A hedgehog campaign will be launched at Lea Barn on Sunday.

The ‘help a hoggie’ afternoon will launch the Hedgehog Street Campaign and will include a talk from guest speaker Amber Glossop.

There will also be a competition for the best hedgehog cake and activities for children including build and buy your own hedgehog box.

DATCHET: Kris Cruisers is holding a 50th birthday open day on Sunday from 10am-4pm.

As well as variety of boats on display, there will also be face paining, a bouncy castle and the chance to meet a minion.

HURST: A children’s disco will raise money for a charity that helps bereaved young people on Sunday.

The party, for children aged seven to 11, will be in the village hall in School Road from 11.30am.

All profits will go to Winston’s Wish, which offers support and guidance to children who have lost a parent.

Entry is £3 per child, £1 for food and drink.

MARLOW: More than 300 runners are expected to take part in the annual Danesfield Dash on Sunday.

The event, now in its fourth year, sees competitors take on a 10km course through the Chiltern Hills. A 1km race is held for children.

Last year saw about 250 adults enter alongside 100 youngsters and organisers are predicting similar or greater numbers this time around.

WINDSOR: About 500 people are expected to take part in a parade through the town centre on Sunday. (apr17)

The Scout and Guide St George’s Day parade will leave Bachelors acre at 2.30pm.

It will parade through the town to Windsor Parish Church for a service starting at 3pm before it returns to Bachelors acre for 4.10pm. 

There are more than 1,930 Scouts in Windsor and Maidenhead and around the same in Guiding.
