FRIDAY:

ASCOT: A horse racing night for charity will take place at King Edward's Hall in North Ascot, tonight. Tickets cost £7.50 which includes home-made hot food. There will also be a licensed bar.

ASCOT: Learn about all types of bees at Wildlife in Ascot’s free event tonight.

Edwina Brugge will be talking about bees at Silwood Park, in Buckhurst Road, at 7.30pm.

As well as information about all kinds of bees, there will be guidance on plants for bees and the opportunity to look at bee keeping equipment including a hive. Visit wildlifeinascot.org for more information.


BURNHAM: Today (Friday) is the annual Spring Fair at St Peter’s Church.

The fair will be held at the Cornerstone in Church Street from 10am to 1pm.

A Spring Lunch will also be served, alongside cakes for sale, arts and crafts, raffle and tombola. 

All monies raised on the day go towards the church.

All are welcome.


SLOUGH: Contributions made by Muslim scientists and inventors is the subject of an exhibition at Slough Library today (Friday).

The show, organised by the charity, Islamic Shakhsiyah Foundation, is running from 10am to 4pm.


SLOUGH: The end of Steam in Europe on Home Movies is the title of the next Friday nights at the Manor today (Friday).

John Coke is due to be the guest speaker at the event which starts at 7.45pm.

Tickets cost £5 for members and £6 for non-members.


TWYFORD: The first of four Italian markets is being held today (Friday).

Organised by Twyford Village Partnership (TVP), village suppliers will be among the 20 stalls at the market.

The event, launched in the village last year by TVP, will be held outside Waitrose in London Road, beginning at 9am.

The fair will also offer goods from Riverways Farm, Hare Hatch Sheeplands, Stanlake Park Wine and Bingham Brewery.


SATURDAY:

DATCHET: A fair will raise money for elderly people living in Datchet.

The 3M's Residents Association was started four years ago and organises social activities for those living in sheltered and supported housing in the area.

It will take place at Moores Court in New Road tomorrow from 11.30am-3pm.


ETON: Marvellous music will mark the 180th anniversary of the Windsor and Eton Choral Society.

The group will perform Antonin Dvorak’s Stabat Mater tomorrow.

This year also marks the 170th anniversary of the composer’s birth.

The concert will be held at Eton College in the school hall and starts at 7.30pm. For tickets and more information, contact 01628 528041.


HOLYPORT: A jumble sale will take place at Holyport Primary School in Stroud Farm Road on Saturday.

The sale will be run by St Michael’s Church in Bray and money raised will go towards the new toilet block in the church.

Entry costs 50p and children enter for free.

The stall will take place at 11am-1pm and any jumble donations can be brought to the school hall between 9am and 11am.


LANGLEY: There is a concert being held in aid of Save the Children tomorrow (Saturday) at 7.30pm at St Mary's Church, Langley.

Berkshire Recorder Consort are the main performers, together with Bruce Russell, baritone. Liam Condon will be playing two pieces on the organ. Tickets £10 at the door

MAIDENHEAD: A community fitness event funded through the council’s Bright Idea Challenge Prize will celebrate its first birthday on Saturday.

The Maidenhead Parkrun, a free 5km timed run held on Saturdays and open to any member of the community, finished in third place in the Prize in 2014, securing £3,000 from the Royal Borough.

The organisers and participants will celebrate the birthday with cake and fancy dress at the start point in Braywick Park at 9am.


MARLOW AND COOKHAM: Classical music lovers have their final chance to get tickets for the latest concert by Cookham-based Cantorum Choir.

The ensemble will be performing JS Bach’s Mass in B Minor at All Saints Church, in Marlow High Street, at 7.30pm on Saturday.

SLOUGH: A dance studio on the Bath Road will be holding an open house tomorrow (Saturday) for its end-of-term presentation day.

The DNC Studio, which stands for Dancing Nikita Company, will be open from 10am to 3pm and will showcase performances from children, teenagers and adults and the classic Indian Kathak and Bollywood dances they have learned this term,

The studio is at 459 Bath Road, Slough.


TWYFORD & RUSCOMBE: The annual village spring clean-up is being held on Saturday.

Arranged by both Wokingham Borough Council and Twyford Parish Council, volunteers are asked to meet outside Loddon Hall in Loddon Hall Road, Twyford from 10am.

Safety vests and litter picks will be provided.

Volunteers are asked to wear gloves, strong footwear and suitable clothing.

SUNDAY:

FLACKWELL HEATH: An indoor car boot sale is due to be held in Flackwell Heath on Sunday.

The event will be hosted at Juniper Hill School, in Churchill Close, from 9.30am till noon, with entry set at £1 for adults.

MAIDENHEAD: Organisers of this year’s Maidenhead Bunny Fun Run have promised that the show will hop on this Sunday, despite a last-minute blow to preparations.

Plans for the annual 5k race were thrown into disarray when the company providing the start and finish line barriers was forced to cancel at short notice.

But Stephan Stephan, president of the Rotary Club of Maidenhead Thames, which stages the race, has assured entrants that a solution will be found in time for the firing of the starting gun at Oaken Grove Park at 9.30am.

“It will probably cost a bit more, which is a shame,” he said, “because every penny is going to charity and every penny counts.”

So far, about 200 competitors have signed up for the event, which includes prizes for fastest male, female, para-athlete wheel racer, over-60; under-18 and under-12 runners, as well as best dressed adult and child.

SLOUGH: The colourful festival of Holi is coming to the town on Sunday.

Celebrating and enjoyment is the aim of the event at Slough Cricket Club in Upton Court Road.

Attendees will be handed dry colours which can then be sprayed on others. The event starts at noon. Email parthivk@gmail.com for details.


WINDSOR: Tasty Middle Eastern food will be served up by a pop-up restaurant at a Windsor church.

The event, taking place at Holy Trinity Garrison Church, will feature a three-course lunch laid on by the Lebanese Nights restaurant.

Guests should arrive for a 1.30pm start on Sunday.
