The Friends of Slough Canal are continuing to co-operate with Slough Borough Council to organise this year's Slough Canal Festival.
It is on September 8-9 in Bloom Park, Middlegreen Road, Langley.
Among subjects discussed at joint meetings have been invitations to potential exhibitors, refreshment facilities, waterside reed clearance at the site and entertainment.
Members of the friends group have been distributing leaflets advertising the festival at boatyards, marinas and waterway events elsewhere.
Following the recent transfer of the canal and river network, formerly owned and managed by British Waterways, to a new charitable organisation, The Canal and River Trust, opportunities for voluntary involvement in waterway maintenance are likely to increase.
The friends group is looking at ways to co-ordinate contact between companies and individuals in the Slough area interested in volunteering and the waterway management.
