PLANS have been submitted to install three air source heat pumps at the Sacred Heart Church hall.
Canon Paul Fitzpatrick has applied for permission for the new system at the building in Vicarage Road.
It will replace the existing gas boilers which serve the church with a view to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.
The works are proposed for the south side of the building.
A design and access statement by Creative Design and Structure said: “The pumps are compact and positioned at ground level to remain as unintrusive as possible.
“The nearest dwelling, the church presbytery, is approximately 10m away. Given the distance and low output, the units will not cause any noise or amenity impact.
“As the works are entirely on the modern hall, there will be no impact on the listed building or its setting.”
South Oxfordshire District Council, the planning authority, is expected to make a final decision by December 26.
