Windsor Leisure Centre is set to welcome a major feline celebration this February.
The kiTICAts Cat Club is bringing its International Cat Show to the royal town for the first time, with esteemed judges travelling in from the USA, Austria and Poland.
The two-day event known as ‘The Noble Whiskers Gathering’ will see pedigree and domestic cats and kittens judged under the rules of The International Cat Association (TICA).
Taking place on Saturday, February 7 and Sunday, February 8, it will feature a wide range of classes, including kittens aged 4–8 months, adult cats, neutered cats, and non-pedigree household pet cats.
Judging continues across both days with a short lunch break, and begins with colour assessment, followed by division and breed placements, before building to the much-anticipated finals.
Judges announce their top 10 kittens, cats and alters of all breeds throughout the days.
The event is designed as a family-friendly day out, offering the chance to meet breeders and owners, learn more about feline care, and see both rare and familiar breeds up close.
Adding to its family appeal is a children’s ‘Tail Trail’ and a popular junior exhibitors’ ring, allowing children to show their cats and answer questions from the judge.
kiTICAts is one of the UK’s newer cat clubs, led by president Maria Bunina, although TICA shows have been held nationwide for over 20 years.
Based in Henley, Maria has over two decades of experience as an exhibitor with TICA and has been breeding Siberian cats for 23 years.
She is an All-Breed Cat Judge with TICA and chair of the TICA Siberian Breed Committee.
During the Windsor show, she will judge the Male Congress on Saturday lunchtime, a special class for entire males yet to achieve Supreme Grand Champion status.
She said: “We hope to welcome cat lovers, families, and the simply curious to enjoy a truly international event right here in Windsor.
“Our event promises to be a fantastic day out for families, allowing attendees to interact with cat breeders and owners, gather valuable information on feline care, and explore a variety of pet-related vendors.
“Join us for a delightful day where you can meet both beloved and rare feline breeds, witness them being judged by esteemed international judges, and engage in lively conversations with passionate breeders and owners.”
The move to Windsor Leisure Centre follows the club’s successful show in Maidenhead last August, which outgrew its venue due to high interest and attendance.
Next month, visitors can browse an array of pet-related treasures, including vendors such as The Luxury Cat Towers (formerly TiggaTowers), Cazami Cat Wheel, HappyTumz, Kitty Kabinz, Tabbies and Tigers, WWF, and more.
Adding star appeal to the weekend will be Neville, a Siberian cat recently featured in the Sunday Times and previously fronted campaigns for the Pets at Home summer collection and John Lewis.
Visitors will have the chance to meet him in person.
The event is run on a not-for-profit basis, with all proceeds going towards venue hire and the travel and accommodation costs of the international judges.
The show is open to the public from 10am to 4pm on both days.
Tickets cost £7 for adults and £4 for children and OAPs, and can be purchased via TicketTailor or on the door.
