A family arts festival full of treats including shows, activities, workshops and films is set to take over Norden Farm from the end of this month.
The Quest Family Fest will take place from Tuesday, March 31 to Saturday, April 11, and will feature the centre’s popular Explore taste workshops day, featuring more than 35 sessions on Friday, April 3.
The festival will kick off with an event featuring Lego bricks by The Brick People.
The team will bring a range of Lego brick-related free-flow sessions to the centre on Tuesday, March 31 at 10.30am, noon, 2pm, 3.30pm and 5pm, with tickets costing £6.50 per person.
The event will include self-guided activities, including random brick building and mosaic building, alongside tables with build challenges for all ages to get involved with.
Long Nose Puppets will present Flyaway Katie, a show full of movement, colour, surprises and puppets for those aged two to seven on Wednesday, April 1 at 11.30am and 2pm.
The venue’s popular Explore Day will include a range of activities including circus skills, pre-school craft and play, special effects make-up and magic.
Visitors will also enjoy djembe drumming, digital animation, street dance and having a go at silkscreen tote bags.
There will also be a chance to make and decorate chocolate lollipops, create ceramic animal pots and participate in drama sessions.
The one-hour Explore Day workshops all cost £5 per person or guests can by an Explore Pass covering four workshops for £18.
Holmes and Watson and The Curious Case of the Masked Magician will be presented by The Great Baldini and Peter Clifford.
Sherlock Homes must help to solve the Masked Magician’s disappearance. With an excitable Watson in tow, Holmes delves into the secret world of Edwardian magic.
The event will take place on Saturday, April 4 at 2pm with tickets costing £15.50 and £13.50 for under 16s.
The age guidance for the event is seven plus and tickets for family and friends (four people) cost £54.
Audiences can also enjoy Olaf Falafel’s Stupidest Super Stupid Show on Tuesday, April 7 at 11.30am and 3.15pm.
Visitors can catch the adventure of The Gingerbread Man until Saturday, April 11 at 11.30am and 3pm.
The show for those aged three plus, will see the Gingerbread Man having to use his wits to escape anyone who finds him tasty.
Youngsters aged eight to 14-years-old can also immerse themselves in the venue’s four-day art camp, Art Daze, from Tuesday, April 7 to Friday, April 10, between 10am and 4pm. Tickets cost £180 and are £160 for RBWM residents.
Visitors can also catch family film screenings of Goat (PG), and Pixar’s latest film Hoppers (U).
There will be a chance to get creative at arts and crafts sessions and escape the action at the Camp Out – Sensory Chill Out Space in the gallery.
Lunch, drinks and snacks are also available from Café Bar, where there are also plenty of games, books and colouring to keep youngsters entertained.
Tickets for all live family shows during the Quest Family Fest cost £13.50 and are £11.50 for under 16s.
Family and friends (four people) will pay £45 for tickets, unless otherwise stated.
