Windsor pupils take to the O2 stage as part of the world’s largest children’s choir

More than 300 children from schools across Windsor took part in this year’s Young Voices concert at the O2 Arena, performing as part of the world’s largest children’s choir.

The pupils joined over 8,000 schoolchildren from across the UK in the record-breaking event, organised by Young Voices, which brings together schools nationwide to create a mass choral performance.

Their events give children the chance to perform in world-class arenas alongside professional musicians, vocal coaches, dancers and live bands.

Students from Years 3 to 13 represented the Windsor Learning Partnership on Wednesday, January 21, sharing the stage in what was described as a night of ‘remarkable scale, energy and excitement’.

Senior pupils acted as role models and supported younger performers throughout rehearsals and during the performance itself, creating a strong sense of unity and boosting confidence across age groups.

James Manwaring, director of music at the Trust, said: “It was an absolute privilege to lead our students at Young Voices this year.

“Seeing children from Year 3 through to Year 13 singing together and experiencing a performance of this scale was truly inspiring.

“The energy in the O2 was electric, and our students rose to the occasion magnificently.

“I’m incredibly proud of every one of them, and grateful to the dedicated staff across our schools who made this opportunity possible.

“It’s a night I know our young people will remember for a very long time.”

The Trust said the achievement reflects the strength of music education across all six Windsor Learning Partnership schools: Windsor Boys’ School, Windsor Girls’ School, Dedworth Middle School, Dedworth Green First School, Clewer Green CE First School and Oakfield First School.

Choir leaders across the schools worked together to ensure every child felt prepared and confident to take part in the landmark event.

The evening was hailed as a powerful reminder of the impact of the arts in education, bringing communities together and creating lifelong memories for students.
