TV presenter and populariser of maths Johnny Ball visited pupils at a school in Cippenham as part of the NSPCC's Number Day.
The annual fundraising event, now in its 26th year, showcases the fun side of mathematics through activities such as Dress up for Digits.
During Mr Ball’s visit to Cippenham School on Friday, youngsters enjoyed interactive sessions on the joy of mathematics.
This included an assembly that shared the history of maths.
Mr Ball was one of many key figures visiting schools across the country as part of the NSPCC’s event.
The charity provides a range of services, including Childline.
Mr Ball said: “I’m delighted to support the NSPCC’s annual Number Day once again.
"It’s a fantastic initiative that helps children see maths in a new light—making it fun, accessible, and something that they can enjoy from an early age.
“Maths can feel daunting for many, so it’s vital we show that it’s not just about numbers; it underpins so much of life, from the arts to the sciences.
“Number Day also brings schools together in a brilliant way, encouraging pupils to fundraise for the NSPCC’s essential work that supports children across the UK.
"I’m proud to play a part in such an important cause.”
Navdeep Dehala, deputy headteacher of Cippenham School, said: “Number Day is such a special occasion for us.
"Our pupils love it. It’s such a wonderful campaign as it brings out the fun of maths and allows children to see it from a whole new perspective.
"Thank you to the NSPCC for organising the day and sharing all important safeguarding advice to children while enhancing their learning and numerical skills.”
Stephanie Coleman, senior fundraiser at the NSPCC, said: “Number Day is such a special day in the annual calendar for schools.
"It brings pupils and staff together to celebrate the fun of maths and the importance of keeping children safe from harm.
“It’s wonderful to see how children celebrate this event across the country, we’ve heard of children dressed as calculators, dice and sporting their favourite numbers on sports tops.
“Every pound raised through Number Day helps fund our vital work supporting children across the UK who have experienced abuse.
"It’s amazing to see so many schools take part year after year, and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who gets involved.”
