Cookham Rise children save tokens for big push at the end
Eleven-year-olds Beth Murray and Daniel White, of Cookham Rise Primary, are collecting for their school.

The latest Cash for Schools token is published in the paper today (edition of February 28).

Cookham Rise Primary School has said any money it receives through the £20,000 scheme will go towards its African garden.

You can help win funding for schools in your area by cutting out the token on page 19 and handing it in to one of the participating schools listed below. Tokens have been printed in the Maidenhead, Windsor, Twyford and Burnham editions of the Advertiser for the last few weeks and will continue until March 28.

Each registered school that collects a minimum of just two tokens per pupil, will guarantee themselves a portion of the money.

Cookham Rise Primary School in High Road is trying to grab as many tokens as they can again this year for its African garden.

Sally Jenkins, who works in the school office said: "We have got a bit of a miniature Eden Project going on out there to improve our outdoor area.

"We normally get about 300 tokens, but we've only collected about 40 so far. The children usually save them up so we're hoping for a big push towards the end."

Last year participating schools received between £259 and £1,489 according to a ratio of how many tokens they collected per pupil.

The 2013 scheme will again have a top prize of £2,000 and a runner-up prize of £1,500, leaving a £16,500 prize fund to be split between the remaining participating schools.

The scheme is open to all state nursery, infant, junior, first, primary, middle and secondary schools in the news area covered by the Advertiser series.

Since it began in 2006 Cash For Schools has pumped £140,000 into the area's schools.
