In the public notices this week, Frimley’s NHS trust is looking for permission to build a new diagnostic Centre at Upton Hospital There is also a Taplow planning application and road closures in the Royal Borough.
Slough
Frimley has developed a community diagnostic plan with a view to increasing diagnostic capacity, reducing health inequalities and to improving population health.
The proposed site of the Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) will be at the northwest corner of the Upton Hospital site, at the junction of Church Street and Osborne Street.
The buildings on the site are currently unoccupied. These blocks are vacant and ‘in an advanced state of disrepair.’
These are ‘outdated’ and ‘do not reflect the current models of clinical care,’ said Frimley. They ‘are not able to adapt to meet future standards expected of health facilities.’
As such, the five single storey blocks are being demolished. Approval for this was already granted in July.
The proposals ‘allow a non-functioning site [to be] brought back into use … to provide a contemporary community diagnostic centre … able to meet the growing demands of the wider community,’ claim Frimley.
“The new building provides significant improvements to the public realm around the site,” Frimley added.
Six accessible parking bays are provided close to the main entrance of the building, among other changes to pedestrian areas and access.
This is a major application that affects the setting of a listed building and conservation area.

South Bucks
An application for a ‘major development’ on the greenbelt in Taplow – which has already been completed – has been made to prevent further enforcement action.
Stables were built and change of use of the land from farmland to equestrian on land adjacent to Skyfall, Hitcham Lane. The stables and land are the home of four horses.
The applicants faced enforcement action against them due to not having obtained planning permission in advance.
They were informed by email that the investigation has been closed and no further action will be taken. It is now seeking retrospective permission for this planning application.
“We still wish to have the [application] approved ... to stop any further issues down the line,” said the applicant’s planning statement.
It argues that the use of the land for equestrian purposes is ‘acceptable in principle’ and the hardstanding, access and stables ‘is not considered to harm the character of the area, or greenbelt.’
