2008: Hidden talent from the Royal Borough was brought into the spotlight on the West End stage.

A massive new production of Oliver!, starring Rowan Atkinson, was previewing in London and 30 children from the Royal Borough joined the chorus.

The youngsters were selected by Maidonian Jo Hawes during a search to find undiscovered actors.

2008: Workers were preparing to bring down the scaffolding on the All Saints Church tower following a £1million repair job.

The 150ft tower had been encased in scaffolding since June as part of restoration work on the Grade I-listed building.

A handful of people, including Advertiser reporters, were invited on a dizzying climb up the spire to celebrate the completion of the work and the reinstatement of the weather vane.

2013: Rowing aces Katy Lion and Sophie Delaney launched a boat named in their honour.

They joined Katy’s dad Paul – the president of Maidenhead Rowing Club – in opening a bottle of champagne over the new boat at the club’s headquarters in River Road.

Katy and Sophie were former members of the club’s junior squad, who went on to success in the GB-France match and in the junior doubles at national championship level.

2018: Prime Minister Theresa May enjoyed a trip down memory lane as she looked around the new classic toy exhibition at Maidenhead Heritage Centre.

During the visit, Mrs May played table skittles and reminisced about the toys she had as a child.

2018: Hundreds of students and staff raised money for mental health charity, Mind, at their annual Christmas run.

About 300 people from Berkshire College of Agriculture took part in the Festive Fun Run – a two-mile loop which saw many runners take part in fancy dress.
