The controversial Maidenhead Golf Course development will be named Elizabeth Quarter if the scheme gets the go ahead.
Developer Cala Homes is looking to build up to 2,000 homes on the sprawling site, but continues to face opposition from campaigners who want to protect ‘Maidenhead’s green lung’.
The site has been allocated for housing under the approved Borough Local Plan, which has been the subject of a legal challenge from campaigners (see p1).
Cala Homes is hosting two consultation events at Maidenhead Library later this month.
The first session will be taking place on Thursday, November 24 from 2.30pm until 7pm.
The second session will be held on Saturday, November 26 from 10.30am until 2.30pm.
Anyone who isn’t able to attend the events can view information and respond online.
Details will be available on the project website – calaplanning.co.uk/elizabethquarter – from Thursday, November 24 until Thursday, December 7.
Andrew Aldridge, land director at Cala (Chiltern) said: “We understand this is a site that means a great deal to the local community.
“Our aim is to create a sensitive, landscape-led development which retains and protects as many precious natural features as we can, opening access to green spaces for wider community enjoyment, while delivering the new homes Maidenhead desperately needs alongside community facilities, such as new schools.”
Cala said 30 per cent of its homes at the proposed development will be classed as affordable housing.
