Waterlogged pitch forces postponement of Maidenhead United's clash with AFC Totton

Maidenhead United’s home game with AFC Totton this evening (Tuesday) has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

With storms rolling in off the Atlantic and a weather warning in place for the region a pitch inspection was scheduled for 10.30am this morning (Tuesday).

Unfortunately, the York Road surface didn’t pass that inspection and has been declared unplayable.

Details for the rearranged fixture at York Road will be announced in due course. 

Any tickets purchased will remain valid for the rearranged game.

United were hoping to get back to winning ways after falling short of their usual high standards in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Chesham United.

While not at their best at The Meadow, the Magpies did at least fight back for a share of the spoils thanks to Liam Dulson’s powerful finish from the edge of the area in the 74th minute.

The Magpies’ schedule for the coming weeks is pretty packed.

This Saturday they’re due to visit Ebbsfleet United before welcoming Bath City to York Road on Tuesday week (February 3).

Saturday’s game is a ‘six pointer’ in the race for the play-offs with Fleet currently three points above the Magpies in seventh place.

A win at Stonebridge Road Stadium would though see Ryan Peters’ side move above Fleet on goal difference.

A pitch inspection will now take place ahead of tonight's game between Bath City and Slough Town early this afternoon (Tuesday). 

Having initially been told the Romans had no concerns over the state of the pitch at Twerton Park, recent heavy rains means they've now scheduled a pitch inspection for 1.45pm. 

Slough have said they'll advise supporters of the outcome as soon as they've been notified.

The Rebels have won four of their last six matches in the league but are looking to bounce back after Saturday's disappointing 3-2 home defeat to Tonbridge Angels. 

Bath currently sit a place - and a couple of points - behind the Rebels in 19th. A win for the Romans this evening would see them leapfrog Scott Davies' side so it feels like a crucial fixture for the visitors as they look to keep their noses out  of trouble at the bottom of the table. 

They go into the game 18th, six points above the drop zone.
