Maidenhead's shopping centre combines national chains and local specialists. The town is well served with leisure amenities from Norden Farm Centre for the Arts to The Braywick Leisure Centre with a swimming pool and gym. The town also has a go-karting track called Absolutely Karting in Stafferton Way.
There are several open and wooded areas for walking and there are a number of good parks such as Kidwells, Ockwells, Oaken Grove, Grenfell and Riverside Gardens.
There are a number of new properties near the River Thames in Maidenhead, which provides opportunities for boating or spending a lazy summer afternoon watching the craft make their way through Boulters Lock, and there are lakes for yachting.

Maidenhead benefits from an excellent transport infrastructure. It straddles the A4 (the old main road from London to Bath). Maidenhead is near the M4 and close to the M40 and the A404M link road.
There is a regular train service to London Paddington (20-25 minutes) and Heathrow is about 25 minutes away on the M4. Maidenhead will benefit from Crossrail. It be connected to East London by rail, when the crossrail project is completed in 2017.
