All three of our Combined Counties Premier Division North sides were in Premier Challenge Cup action this week, with the competition throwing up some surprising results.

League leaders Burnham bowed out of the competition at the second round stage as they failed to hold onto David Bamidele’s sixth minute goal. The Blues looked to be edging their way through to the next round but Danilo Cadete (87') and Tanaka Gabaza (90+2') turned the tie on its head in the closing stages.

Windsor & Eton managed to overcome a first half wobble to oust Amersham Town from the competition at Stag Meadow on Tuesday.

The hosts took the lead in the second round clash through Ethan Darcy in the 24th minute, however, Town led at the interval thanks to a late double from Kai Bartolo (39') and Lucas Georgiou (44' pen).

Rob Webb’s side responded well in the second half though with Thumwood grabbing his third goal of the week in the 47th minute and Toby Raggett (71') and Emile Hohmann (90+6') finishing the job to secure Windsor’s sixth win in all competitions this season.

Holyport were in first round Challenge Cup action and they earned the result of the night with a hugely encouraging 3-1 victory away to British Airways.

Port took control of the tie in the first half with goals from Lucas Surpanu (9') and Shaun Heuer (21'). Alfie Essex (52') grabbed a goal back for the home side but Philip Oladunjoye (59') restored the visitors’ advantage and they held on for a deserved victory.
