Leaders Burnham smashed Edgware & Kingsbury 4-0 at the 1878 Stadium on Saturday to put their recent indifferent form behind them and stay top of the Combined Counties Premier Division North.
The Blues went into Saturday’s home clash top of the table by a point, but having lost five of their last seven matches in all competitions.
So, there would have been a degree of trepidation heading into Saturday’s home clash with Edgware, despite their visitors sitting bottom of the division.
Any fears of another struggle were brushed aside inside 10 minutes though as Rafael Bertoli (1') and Christian Mulindwa (8') scored to give the Blues a commanding lead.
There was little danger of them conceding that advantage to a side that’s picked up just one point from their seven matches prior to Saturday’s trip to Burnham. And the Blues finished the job off in the closing 10 minutes with two more goals from Deluxe Mwengula (81') and Shyon Dennis (90+3').

The Blues may have been let off the hook by their rivals own inconsistencies of late, but that wasn’t the case on Saturday as the top four sides all claimed victory.
Burnham director, Paul Butler said: “A Stirling performance with four different scorers. It’s tight at the top but we’ll keep battling regardless.
“It does amaze me how we seem to be invisible to so many. Attendance could be better considering how exciting and entertaining we are.”
Burnham are back at home on Wednesday when they host Sandhurst Town in the second round of the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup at the 1878 Stadium.
They then make the short trip to Summerleaze Park to take on Holyport in the league on Saturday afternoon (October 11).
Broadfields United stayed within a point of Burnham with a thumping 4-0 away win at Virginia Water while third placed Windsor & Eton grabbed a stoppage time winner to beat Milton United 2-1.
Rob Webb’s side remain just two points behind the Blues having played the same number of games, with Broadfields having played one more league game.
Windsor have been going through some slight adjustments following the departure of manager Matty Angell and the loss of striker Pawel Kowalkowski.
However, the Royalists were able to come up with an injury-time winner to maintain their challenge this weekend.
They took the lead after only eight minutes when Isaiah Chase slotted home, but Harry Thomas levelled matters shortly before the half-hour mark.
Webb made a host of changes to try and summon up a late winner and it looked like the visitors would be frustrated until Emile Hohmann turned the ball home in the 92nd minute to seal victory
The Royalists are back in league action at home to Virginia Water on Saturday (October 11, 3pm kick-off).

Kidlington proved too strong for improving Holyport on Saturday, running out 2-1 winners at Yarnton Road.
Port are 16th in the table but have been in decent form of late, winning two and drawing one of their last four in all competitions heading into Saturday’s game.
However, Kidlington are one of the division’s front-runners, sitting just three points behind Burnham in fourth place and they took control of the game with goals from Patrick Osborne in the 21st and 61st minutes.
Port managed to get a goal back almost immediately, with Freddie Lewendon scoring from Lucas Surpanu’s pass, but Dan Rapley and Lee Ovens’ side didn’t quite have enough about them in the final 25 minutes to rescue a point.
Having recently held Windsor & Eton to a goalless draw at Summerleaze Park, Port will be looking for a similarly positive result when local rivals Burnham visit this Saturday.
