Maidenhead United vs Worthing

Maidenhead United return to National League South action on Saturday following a two-week layoff with the aim of extending their excellent form in the league at the expense of a potential promotion rival.

Worthing come into the clash in free scoring but erratic form, having won two and lost two of their last five matches. That inconsistency has left them11th in the table, however, they’ve shown at times this season what an explosive outfit they can be, while last season they were in the title race until the final day of the season.

They were eventually edged out by Truro City for the title and their play-off hopes were ended a few days later by Maidstone United, and they haven’t yet quite found the same consistency this season.

The Rebels have only three wins to their name so far, yet one of those was an excellent 5-2 win over recently relegated Dagenham & Redbridge at the start of September, so Alan Devonshire’s side should underestimate them at their peril.

There’s little chance Devonshire will do that and he’s hoping the side’s two-week break will see them come into this clash feeling refreshed and sharp rather than lacking match sharpness.

They should be full of confidence having won their last five league matches, but they had to roll up their sleeves to claim the last of those, a 1-0 success at Maidstone United on September 20.

Matt Robinson scored the only goal in that game and the Magpies managed to dig in for all three points under some intense second half pressure from their hosts.

Worthing come into the game off the back of a 3-0 win over Wimborne Town in the FA Cup third qualifying round on Saturday.

Temi Babalola rounded off the scoring in that game, registering his seventh goal in his last seven appearances, while Worthing have hit 10 in their last five league matches.

Tickets can be purchased online before 1pm on Saturday for the best rates or on the gate, with cash or card accepted. Ticket prices are as follows: Adults: £18 (£20); Concessions (Over 65 years old, Student, UB40): £13.50 (£15); Next Generation (17-22 years old): £9 (£10); Under 17's: £4 (£5).

Hampton & Richmond Borough vs Slough Town

Slough Town reset their focus on their National League South campaign this weekend with a trip to Hampton & Richmond Borough, having managed to claw their way through to the final qualifying round of the FA Cup last weekend with a 2-1 win at Bedfont Sports.

The Rebels passage into the next round was far from straight forward as they fell behind to a goal by Ollie Davison and then saw goalkeeper Adam Desbois sent off in the first half. But a brace from Josh Adepoju saw the 10-men battle back for victory and they’ll take on Enfield Town at Arbour Park on Saturday week (October 11) with a place in the first-round proper at stake.

Before that though, they travel to fifth placed Hampton & Richmond Borough looking to revive their stuttering league campaign after consecutive defeats to Torquay United and Hornchurch.

Those losses, which saw the Rebels concede nine goals in the process, leave Scott Davies side in 19th place and in need of some results and points on the board.

Hampton won’t be an easy place to go and claim that much-needed win, as their hosts have lost just once in the league all season and are unbeaten on home soil in all competitions.

Flackwell Heath vs Stotfold and Marlow vs Hitchin Town

In the Southern League Central Division there are home matches for both Flackwell Heath - who host Stotfold - and Marlow - who entertain Hitchin Town.

Both the Heathens and the Blues enjoyed encouraging results this week, with Flackwell knocking step 3 side Bracknell Town out of the FA Cup to advance to the final qualifying round and the Blues claiming their first win in five league matches with a 2-1 success at Northwood on Tuesday.

Flackwell should be brimming with confidence following Tuesday’s 3-0 replay win over Bracknell at Bottom Meadow. After surviving some pressure from their hosts in the first half, Chris Ayres’ side hit back with three goals in 14 second half minutes from Jamie Ayres, Ben Stallard and Matty Ayres.

Stotfold are 16th in the table but have won two of their last three league matches against Marlow and Biggleswade.

Marlow’s league win at Northwood on Tuesday was secured with second half goals from Naheer Omar Nawaf (53'), Flavio Gyawu-Kyem (64'). The result lifts them to 15th in the table and the Blues will hope to be far more competitive in the league going forward now they’ve found their feet in the division.

Hitchin Town sit ninth in the table but have lost three of their last four matches in all competitions.

Burnham vs Edgware & Kingsbury

In the Combined Counties Premier Division North, leaders Burnham host Edgware & Kingsbury on Saturday looking to bounce back to form after a wretched run of results.

Mo and Omz Bakali’s side have lost five of their last seven matches in all competitions yet remain top of the table by a point from Broadfields United.

Scoring goals has been an issue for the Blues of late, with the side managing just three goals in their last seven appearances. They’ve also lost their last three in all competitions, including Saturday’s 1-0 reverse at Amersham Town where they were downed by a 92nd minute winner from Shane Johnson.

Milton United vs Windsor & Eton

Scoring goals has also been an issue for Windsor & Eton in their last couple of matches, stalemates against Holyport at Summerleaze Park and Reading City at Stag Meadow.

Despite this, the Royalists are fourth in the table, still only two points off top spot, heading into their game at seventh placed Milton United on Saturday.

Kidlington vs Holyport

Holyport are also starting to rise up the table after they collected their third positive result in four matches in midweek with a 2-0 victory at Wokingham Town.

Goals from Kickie Dzimba and Manuel Kingsley-Nyinah delivered victory for Port and provided the perfect response to Friday evening’s 5-0 defeat at Hilltop.

Having beaten British Airways in the Premier Challenge Cup and drawn at home to Windsor & Eton, it seems Port are showing some form and consistency under new managers Lee Ovens and Dan Rapley.

They are back on the road this Saturday at fifth placed Kidlington.
