A father-of-two known for his ‘infectious laugh’ and keen sense of fun is sorely missed within the Slough community.
Jasbir Singh Bains, 52, from Salt Hill Drive, was knocked down and killed by a car while walking along Green Lane, Burnham, near its junction with Britwell Road at 6.15pm on Monday, December 7.
He and a friend were walking in the dark to a friend’s house to get a lift home when the incident took place.
More than 500 mourners turned out for the funeral of their friend, known as Bainsy, on Thursday, December 17.
The crowd for the funeral was so large that police had to be called in to manage the traffic.
Mr Bains leaves behind his wife Sonia and two children, Sapriya, 11, and Reece, 14.
His brother Bob Bains said: “He will be deeply missed and as my brother stated ‘our lives pass in the blink of an eye’ so we need to learn from his example and live each day to the fullest.”
With a real passion for motor cars, Jasbir was known for his vintage gold Pontiac Trans-am which he could often be seen driving around the Slough area.
His wife Sonia thanked the friends and family for their support since her husband passed away.
She said: “I have been overwhelmed with everyone’s words of comfort, practical help and generosity.”
She described her husband as having a real passion for life and for being well known in the community.
His death is being investigated by police. Anyone with any information is asked to call 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
