New site for MEGA CITY, Former Wilko store on Slough High Street The unit is being turned into a bowling, bumper cars and activities entertainment centre.
In the public notices this week, there is plan for a major development in Iver road closures in Slough. A new entertainment centre in Slough set for October is also looking to get its licence.
Licensing
A licensing application is in for Mega City – a new family entertainment centre set for Slough.
Based on the former Wilko site, it is due to open in October and will feature an arcade, bumper cars, VR arenas, karaoke rooms, augmented reality darts, and party rooms.
Mega City needs a licence to run several of its activities and seeks permission for:
Planning
Plans have been submitted for 43 homes in a large patch of greenbelt land near Swallow Street in Iver. The site primarily comprises 2.12 hectares (21,200sqm) of equestrian land, including a sand school – an enclosed area with a sand-based surface used for horse riding and training.
The plan would be made up of 50 per cent affordable homes – rounded up to 22 units – and there would be altered access for vehicles from Swallow Street.
There would be two one-bed flats, nine two-beds, 21 three-beds and 11 four-beds.
Applicants Hawridge Strategic Land Ltd intend to address the layout of the site in a separate, future application (known as a ‘reserved matters’ application).
Plans offer ‘new and enhanced’ habitats for wildlife and a 10 per cent biodiversity net gain.
Section 106 agreements – money from developers used to fund new public infrastructure – are to be agreed in the future. This is expected to cover highway improvements outside of the site and an open space/play space.
Seven objection letters have been logged against the plans so far.
Objectors claim the site is prone to flooding and that the development may worsen this, threatening nearby properties.
Residents also worry that the development will increase traffic, create parking issues, and reduce road safety particularly for pedestrians and children.
Yet more objections centre around the homes placing pressure on schools, healthcare facilities and public transport – considered by neighbours to be already under strain.
