The director of a family sportswear business is looking forward to the beginning of a new era, as the firm prepares to move to a new home in the Wessex Road Industrial Estate.
Hawkinsport, which opened its first store in Farnham Road, Slough, 49 years ago, will officially open its new store on Tuesday.
And the next day it will close the doors of its 29-year-old site in the Parade, Bourne End, for the last time.
Speaking ahead of the move, Rob Hawkins, son of founder and owner Freddie Hawkins, expressed his excitement for the future of the business, adding: “We do a lot of school and club wear, and we’ve just run out of space.
“We needed somewhere bigger to be able to give our customers the best possible service.”
The transfer will triple the floor space available to the firm, allowing it to unite retail, production and admin operations under one roof.
It also plans to use this to add a specialist batting area, allowing patrons to test out new cricket bats and hockey sticks before buying them.
