A man from Bourne End has been arrested in connection with a burglary where a Land Rover crashed through a Hampshire village shopfront late at night.
The 51-year-old remains in custody while police continue to investigate the burglary, during which cigarettes were stolen and the shopfront window was left badly damaged.
Police were called to the One Stop in Station Road, Hook, following reports of a black Land Rover Discovery being driven into the shopfront at around 12.30am on Monday.
A man was arrested after cigarettes packed into a large white bag, as well as a crowbar and two fire extinguishers, were later found in a white BMW 3 Series which had crashed at a roundabout in the south of the village.
The Land Rover and BMW have been seized as Hampshire police continue an investigation.
