Sir Nicholas Winton has added another prestigious award to his impressive collection following a special presentation at Maidenhead Town Hall.
The 105-year-old was handed the Thomas Bata Award, the highest Rotarian award given by the Rotary District 2240 of the Czech Republic and Slovak Republic.
Sir Nicholas, who lives in Pinkneys Green, is known as 'the British Schindler' after smuggling 669 Jewish children out of Czechoslovakia before the outbreak of World War Two.
The Mayor of Windsor and Maidenhead, Cllr Richard Kellaway, welcomed Czech visitors Jan Krejci and Roman Gronsky , as well as Maidenhead Rotary Club President Frank Knowles, at the ceremony on Wednesday.
Roman, a former governor of the Czech Rotary district, explained how highly regarded Sir Nicholas is and how honoured they were to meet the man who helped save so many lives.
Sir Nicholas then stood to have a medal placed round his neck before explaining how he came to get involved in the rescue mission and thanked the Czech Rotarians for the award. Most read
