Normal summer service is set to resume today after the Met Office issued a yellow severe weather warning for rain.
After yesterday's hottest day of the year, heavy thunderstorms are expected to develop across the country this afternoon and evening.
The Met Office said most places will miss the worst of the weather, but is warning the public to be aware of the risk of localised flash flooding, with frequent lightning, large hail stones and strong winds also possible.
It said power disruption is also possible.
The warning is in place for Windsor and Maidenhead, Slough and Buckinghamshire and is valid from 10.40am this morning until 9pm tonight.
