Huntercombe Golf Club ladies' captain, Clare Lennon, and mens' captain, Ian Whittaker, with a cheque for the Chiltern Centre
A GOLF club has donated £28,000 to a Henley charity.
Huntercombe Golf Club has been raising money for the Chiltern Centre, off Greys Road, which supports disabled young adults.
It was chosen as the charity of the year for 2025 by ladies’ captain Clare Lennon and men’s captain Ian Whittaker.
Ms Lennon said: “Knowing the funds raised will help young adults at the Chiltern Centre access the support and opportunities they deserve makes every effort worthwhile. It has been a team effort and we are delighted to make a difference.”
Cheryl Purver, the community and corporate partnerships manager at the centre, said: “Clare, Ian, and the entire team at Huntercombe Golf Club have made the past year incredibly easy. They are all extraordinary people to work with, which is what made the partnership such a success.
“To the members, saying thank you really isn’t enough. Introductions through clubs and organisations like this help build new relationships and, ultimately, friendships — something that directly mirrors one of our main goals at the centre. We see first-hand how the young adults we support grow in confidence, build lasting friendships with their peers and find so much joy through the activities that take place every single day.
“We simply couldn’t do that without the support and generosity of the Huntercombe community.
“Everyone involved at Huntercombe has truly changed the lives of the 26 young people we are supporting right now.”
