89' A late free kick for Maidenhead by Tristan Abrahams flies over the bar. 0-5

87' Reece Smith is replaced by Reuben Carvalho for Maidenhead

86' Josh Williams is replaced by Carter Milmore for Gateshead.

Today's attendance

76' Luke Hannant is replaced by Kain Adom. 0-5

71' Ben Radcliffe is replaced by Josh Home for Gateshead. 0-5

67' Shawn McCoulsky is replaced by Joseph Ajose for Maidenhead.

66' Goal Gateshead. A  fifth for the visitors and it's another simple finish from a cross. Jacob Butterfield getting his second of the game from close range. 0-5

63' Caution for Ben Worman. They've had a couple of those now.

It feels like this could be as many as Gateshead want it to be.

62' Changes for the visitors. Owen Oseni and Callum Whelan are replaced by Tyrelle Newton and Jovan Malcolm. 0-2

60' Goal Gateshead. This could get very messy. Luke Hannant rolls the ball into the path of Callum Whelan who drills his shot beyond Ross. 0-4

Four nil

down, a man down and still 30 minutes plus stoppages to play.

56' The substitute is substituted. Remy Clerima is replaced by Thierry Latty-Fairweather. 0-3

Surely has to be injury related.

51' Goal Gateshead. That was far too easy  for the visitors. Regan Booty strolling through Maidenhead tackles before bending a beautiful shot beyond Ross. Lovely goal, but far too easy for Booty. 0-3

49' Maidenhead manage to force an effort on goal. Reece Smith does well to bring the ball under control before feeding Shawn McCoulsky whose shot on the turn is comfortably saved by Mason. 0-2

Back underway in the second half. Maidenhead attacking the Bell Street End, but it may be more about damage limitation. 0-2

Half-time: Maidenhead United 0-2 Gateshead.

A game which turned in a matter of seconds after Kevin Lokko was sent off for the Magpies and Jacob Butterfield scored from the resultant free kick. Gateshead added a second through Alan Massey's bundled own goal in the dying embers of the half. Anything can happen in football (can't it?) but Maidenhead's chances of getting something from this game look slim to non existent.

45' GOAL Gateshead. Maidenhead fall two goals behind as club captain Alan Massey haplessly turns Ben Worman's left wing cross beyond Craig Ross. You kind of felt Maidenhead had to get into half time just one goal behind, They haven't managed it. 0-2

45' Six minutes of stoppage time for the Magpies to see out here.

44' CHANCE! Cochrane has just kept Maidenhead in the game with a brilliant block with his head. The ball was pulled across the box for Callum Whelan to shoot and you thought for all the world he would find the back of the net, but the Maidenhead defender got back to clear it off the line with his head. 0-1

42' Williams waltzes into the area and gets a strike away that's blocked by Maidenhead bodies. The visitors are winning the ball back very quickly and it's wave after wave of Gateshead attacks. But, so far, Maidenhead are grimly hanging on. 0-1

38' Actually, he hasn't. They're continuing with it anyway. 0-1

35' CHANCE! Craig Ross has just pulled off a stunning save  for the Magpies. Josh Williams was the man who got on the end of a right wing cross but Ross somehow managed to claw the ball over the bar. He's shut up the Gateshead fans who've been giving him the 'dodgy keeper' chant throughout the match.

Maidenhead have also replaced the injured Miles Welch-Hayes with Remy Clerima. Just what Maidenhead didn't need, another injury setback. 0-1

31' Dan Jones lashes the ball over the bar for Gateshead. This feels a bit like an attack and defence drill right now. 0-1

30' Gateshead should double their lead. Regan Booty lifts the ball over the top of the Magpies defence and Owen Oseni heads over the bar. Should have done much better as was in acres of space. 0-1

24' How's your luck? Maidenhead actually started this game pretty well and looked a real threat - Barratt in particular. Then, within a minute, centre half Lokko is red carded and Gateshead score from the resultant free kick. Maidenhead will be playing up the slope in the second half and this is most definitely an uphill task now. 0-1

18' Tactical substitution. Barratt is sacrificed for the defensive nous and experience of Alan Massey. Is this a damage limitation exercise already? 0-1

17' GOAL Gateshead. The visitors take the lead through Jacob Butterfield's thumping free kick. Ross had virtually no chance there. 0-1

16' RED CARD! Maidenhead are down to 10 men after Kevin Lokko brought down Gateshead's Owen Oseni who was through on Ross's goal. He had to send him off as he was the last man. No real complaints there. 0-0

12' CHANCE! Gateshead should be in front. A lovely move down the right results in Ben Radcliffe going through on goal but he pulls the ball wide of the goal. He boots the advertising hoardings in frustration. 0-0

10'  The fans who had been braving the rain have headed for the sheltered areas at York Road. Gateshead have also just had their first effort on goal. A well hit strike from Jacob Butterfield that Craig Ross palmed away. 0-0

7' Apparently, Maidenhead have already had more efforts at goal than they did last week at Sutton United. 0-0

6' Two decent chances in the space of a minute as Pettit races through on the right but his low shot is blocked behind for a corner. Barratt whips in it from the right and McCoulsky heads over. Still a very promising start in the pouring rain here from Maidenhead. 0-0

6' Again the Magpies threaten with a low ball in from the left. Barratt swung a leg at it but didn't get a brilliant connection and the ball bounced wide. 0-0

3' Good start from Maidenhead here. Abrahams  has just had a shot on the turn that went a whisker wide. Not convince Mason would have got across to it if it had been creeping in. 0-0

2' A spell of early pressure from the Magpies. Sam Barratt whipped in a decent ball from the left but Lokko wasn't able to get his head on it. 0-0

1' We're underway at York Road. Magpies attacking the Canal End in the first half. 0-0

The players are making their way out at York Road. Maidenhead in black and white stripes with red socks. Gateshead in a burgundy and blue checked number. Pretty natty.

United are without a win in eight matches, but they've played some decent - in form - sides in that run. Oldham Athletic, Yeovil Town, Crawley Town, Forest Green Rovers and Sutton United. Let's hope for better today against another top five side in Gateshead.

14.50: Ten minutes to go until kick-off and both sides are back in the dressing room receiving last minute instructions from the respective coaching teams.

The crowd at York Road is sparse. Let's just put it that way. Long way for the Gateshead fans to travel knowing the game may fail a pitch inspection, and Storm Bert has clearly put off a few fair weather Maidenhead fans as well.

'Heed' are in the house.

Here's a weekend preview of the other football matches taking place today in our area.

The team news is in.

Here are Maidenhead United boss Alan Devonshire thoughts ahead of the game this week

In contrast Gateshead are once again nestled nicely in the play-off places, having finished in the top seven last season. They weren't allowed to compete in those end of season play-offs last season but have resolved their ground issues with the league and local authority so will be extra motivated to put themselves in the promotion picture once again this season.

Their recent form is a little mixed though. One win, one loss and one draw from their last three matches against Solihull Moors, AFC Fylde and Aldershot Town.

Maidenhead United come into this afternoon's game against Gateshead at York Road having slipped back into the National League relegation zone and without a win in eight matches. They've lost their last three in the league to Yeovil Town, Forest Green Rovers and Sutton United and are currently struggling at both ends of the field, conceding too many and scoring too few. Alan Devonshire admitted they'd lost a little of the intensity which have made his teams so hard to play against over the years. They need to rediscover that edge, and rediscover it fast!
