‘Incense burning’ in Maidenhead flats sees firefighter response from across Berkshire

Firefighters from five stations across Berkshire were dispatched to a building in central Maidenhead, only to find ‘incense burning’ in a flat.

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) crews from Bracknell, Langley, Maidenhead, Reading and Slough were dispatched to the scene by Sainsbury’s superstore at 1.19pm today (August 15).  

The service said firefighters found ‘incense burning in one of the flats’ and the call had been a ‘false alarm but made with good intent’.

A spokesperson for Royal Berkshrie Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 1:19pm on Friday, August 15, we received reports of a fire at a high-rise building near Saint-Cloud Way in Maidenhead.

“Two Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Slough Fire Station and crews from Maidenhead, Langley, Caversham Road and Bracknell fire stations were sent to the scene, alongside the Incident Command Unit from Maidenhead Fire Station and one Officer.

“Two crews and two Officers from Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service were also sent to the scene.

“Upon arrival, crews found incense burning in one of the flats.

“There was no sign of fire, and crews found that the report was a false alarm but made with good intent.

“They were on scene for approximately 36 minutes.”
