Police arrested a man over the alleged abuse of two council workers who were removing a flag from a lamppost in Cox Green.
The contractors working for RBWM were approached by a member of the public while removing a Union flag on Highfield Lane in September.
Thames Valley Police said a man, aged 35, from Maidenhead, was arrested on suspicion of a racially or religiously aggravated public order offence and has since been released on bail.
The force said it will investigate any unlawful behaviour directed at workers carrying out their duties.
A spokesperson added: "While the matter of flags is primarily for the local authority, we will investigate any unlawful behaviour directed at workers carrying out their duties.
"We would like to reassure the public that appropriate measures are being taken."
