Increased reporting of sexual offences reflects ‘growing public trust and confidence in Thames Valley Police’ (TVP), the force has said.
TVP has published crime summary statistics covering the year between October 2024 and September 2025 for each of its areas. These include Berkshire East, Berkshire West, Buckinghamshire, Milton Keynes and Oxfordshire.
The results show that reports of sexual offences are on the rise across all areas.
The biggest jump was seen in Milton Keynes where recorded sexual offences rose by 22.4 per cent from 1,010 in October 2023 to September 2024 to 1,236 in October 2024 to September 2025.
In Berkshire East – covering Maidenhead, Windsor and Slough – there has been a 12.5 per cent increase in the recorded number of sexual offences for the same timescale.
The figures have increased from 1,065 recorded incidents in October 2023 to September 2024 to 1,198 reports over the last year.
Buckinghamshire saw a 10.5 per cent rise, with the force recording 1,312 incidents between October 2024 and September 2025, compared to 1,187 last year.
In Berkshire West, numbers have increased by 14.1 per cent from 1,270 to 1,449.
The Oxfordshire area has seen the smallest increase of 7.9 per cent, from 1,895 to 2,045.
The numbers of positive outcomes for reported sexual offences, including those for rape and other sexual offences, have also been rising.
A Thames Valley spokesperson said: “Reports of sexual offences have increased, reflecting growing public trust and confidence in Thames Valley Police.
“Positive outcomes for rape and other sexual offences continue to rise, with sustained improvements year-on-year; with an increase of positive outcomes for rape by 13 [per cent] year to date and an increase of positive outcomes for other sexual offences by 50 [per cent] year to date.
“There will always been some variance within offences showing an increase and decrease but we have and are completing lots of work around non-contact offences such as exposure and voyeurism to boost trust and confidence for people, which will have an impact on rising numbers of reports.
“Our work on VAWG and campaigns such as It Does Matter, alongside pro-active and preventative measures such as Project Vigilant are driving this progress by encouraging more victims to come forward, which has contributed significantly to our increase in positive outcomes.”
