A disgraced former Maidenhead police officer has received a suspended prison sentence for trying to engage in sexual communications with a child.

PC Daniel Hunt, 32, who was stationed at the town’s police station, pleaded guilty to the offence and was given an eight-month custodial sentence suspended for 18 months.

Hunt was also handed a seven-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, imposed when a person is deemed to be a risk to the public, at a sentencing in Oxford Crown Court on Wednesday (February 5).

His crime took place in Wallingford in Oxfordshire on December 14, 2023.

Hunt was arrested the following month on January 25 last year and was suspended from duty till he resigned from the force in November.

A police misconduct case against Hunt continues.
