There are two things one can say with certainty about the band ‘Small Fakers’, One; they are an absolutely brilliant ‘The Small Faces’ tribute band. Two; No one sleeps when they are on!
From start to finish this band rocked the rafters of a sold out Norden Farm Theatre with pinpoint accuracy in sound, look and dynamism of the British band that was not only a huge part of the Mod and Psychedelia music scene of the 60s but it has been mentioned were the inspiration for the later ‘Britpop’ revival.
It’s not often these days that I can say that I was too young at the time to appreciate the original band, but I knew of, and have always enjoyed, all the classic hits such as ‘Lazy Sunday’, ‘Itchycoo Park’ and ‘All or Nothing’, all of which were carbon copied in this electrifying show.
But I, like the enthusiastic audience, some who were actually there back in the day and those who grew up when Britain was ‘mad for it ‘, really enjoyed the back catalogue of tunes, so well performed by these four talented musicians and showmen, whose enthusiasm for their musical subject matter was as energetic and exciting as their performance.
With the best forgers and fakers, it‘s always so difficult to tell them apart from the original. Need I say anymore!
