The Irish accordion maestro brings a new live show on tour.
Sharon Shannon will perform music from her many albums throughout the years, including 2017’s Sacred Earth.
This was a groundbreaking album mixing Irish music with African and blues. The album was inspired by a visit to New Mexico in early 2015. Sharon performed with Native American musicians Arvel Bird and Steve Rushingwind.
Seckou Keita from Senegal was one of the key collaborators on the album, playing Kora and percussion. Seckou joins Sharon and her band as a special guest on the tour.
The button accordion player grew up in County Clare and was part of a family who all play traditional Irish music.
She joined the seminal rock band The Waterboys in the late Eighties – her first show with them was on the main stage at Glastonbury to an audience of 50,000.
Since then Sharon has recorded and toured with many well known artists in the Irish and global music industry including Bono, Adam Clayton, Sinead O’Connor, The RTE Concert Orchestra, The Chieftains, Willie Nelson, Nigel Kennedy, Alison Krauss and Shane MacGowan.
