Comedy night brings emerging UK stand-up acts to Slough

Runi Talwar

Avalon’s Comedy Network will bring a mixed stand-up bill to Curve Venue on Friday, January 23, starting at 7pm.

The Comedy Network, run by Avalon, has previously featured performers who later became well-known names, including Russell Howard, Bill Bailey, Al Murray, Noel Fielding, Lucy Porter, Chris Ramsey, Roisin Conaty, Ed Gamble and Jenny Eclair.

The headliner for the Slough date is Slim, who has been performing stand-up for more than 20 years and is known for his work on the Black British comedy circuit. He has toured internationally, sold out multiple shows at Hackney Empire and supported US comedians including Kevin Hart and Dave Chappelle.

Opening the show will be Runi Talwar, who has been performing on the UK circuit since 2020. His debut Edinburgh Fringe show in 2024 was nominated for best newcomer at the ISH Edinburgh Comedy Awards and sold out several performances. He has also written for television programmes including Have I Got News For You, Hypothetical and Horrible Histories.

The evening will be hosted by Sharlin Jahan, a London-based comedian and writer. She was a finalist in Rising Star Comedy in 2020 and a semi-finalist in Get Up Stand Up in 2019, and has appeared on Union JACK Radio and BBC Essex Radio. She also runs the Brown Sauce South Asian comedy night.

The event is part of Curve Venue’s ongoing programme of live comedy and performance.

Tickets cost £15.
