Remembrance service details for Maidenhead, Windsor and local parishes this weekend

Remembrance Sunday services announced by Royal Borough council

With Remembrance services taking place this weekend the Advertiser brings you a round up of events.

Bray:

A Remembrance Sunday service at St. Michael’s Church will begin at 10.45am and conclude around 11.45am.

The service is available to view online via zoom with details available on the Church’s website.

Burchetts Green Parish:

Remembrance Sunday services will take place at St Mary the Virgin, St John the Evangelist and St James-the-Less churches between 10.45am and 12am.

Burnham:

St. Peter’s Church will hold Armistice Day prayers on Saturday from 10.50am.

St. Peter’s will also hold a Remembrance Sunday service from 8am with laying of wreaths and a service at the village’s war memorial at 10.30am.

Charvil:

The annual service at the Church of St Andrew will commence from 10.30am on Sunday with a two minute silence at 11am.

Cookham and Cookham Dean:

From 10.50am, a ceremony will begin at the war memorial followed by a procession to the Holy Trinity Church for a short service.

Music on the day will be led by the Choristers’ Mums’ Choir.

A service of Remembrance will also take place at Cookham Dean War Memorial from 10.50am, followed by a service in the church.

Dorney:

A Sunday service with Holy Communion at St James the Less Church will start in the Churchyard from 9:15am.

Eton Wick:

A Remembrance service will be held at the war memorial from 10.55am followed by Morning Prayer on Sunday.

Flackwell Heath:

Christ Church will mark Remembrance Sunday by taking part in a ceremony at the war memorial, which starts at 10.45am.

Roads around the war memorial will be closed from approximately 10am-11.45am to allow the service to take place safely.

Knowl Hill:

St Peter’s Church will conduct a service from 10.45am.

Maidenhead:

From 10.50am on Sunday, a service will be held at the War Memorial outside Maidenhead Town Hall, attended by the Deputy Mayor, Councillor Simon Bond.

Ex-service, uniformed, and youth organisations will also be in attendance and participate in the wreath laying ceremony.

A two-minute silence will be observed at 11am.

This will be followed by a church service at St Mary’s Church.

Marlow:

A parade, led by the Scots Guards Association Pipe Band, will start from the Royal British Legion headquarters in Marlow at 10.35am.

It will arrive at the War Memorial on the Causeway at 10.45am with the service beginning at 10.50am.

Representatives from Marlow’s twinned town, Marly-le-Roi, as well as local parishes and organisations around the town will lay wreaths.

The High Street will be closed to traffic from 8am until 12am.

Sunninghill:

Ascot and Sunninghill and Sunningdale and Cheapside councillors are due to attend a service in St Michael’s Church, Sunninghill.

Remembrance services at the church take place at 9.15am and 10.45am on Sunday.

The church service will be followed by the Act of Remembrance and wreath laying at the war memorial in the church grounds.

Taplow:

St Nicholas Church will hold a service from 10:15am, which will include laying of wreaths at the war memorial.

Twyford:

A Sunday service will take place at St Mary’s Church in Station Road at 10.30am

Groups including local Scouts will also take part in a parade from Waitrose to the church.

A short act of remembrance will then be led by the church’s clergy and include wreath-laying by local groups and dignitaries.

Wargrave:

St Mary’s Wargrave will hold a Remembrance Sunday service at 9.45am, featuring guest speaker Major General Rob Thomson CBE DSO.

In addition, a Royal British Legion service will take place on Mill Green at 10.40am.

White Waltham:

At St Mary’s Church, a Sunday service will commence from 10.30am followed with a walk to the war memorial in White Waltham village for a short act of Remembrance at 12pm.

The church will run groups for children and youth aged five to 14 during the church service and there is a DIY creche in a side room available for families with babies or toddlers.

There is also an evening service from 6.30pm on Sunday with the opportunity to light candles to remember lost loved ones.

Windsor:

The Remembrance Sunday service will be held from 10.50am, with a two minute silence from 11am.

The ceremony will take place at the war memorial on Windsor High Street outside the Parish Church of St John the Baptist. The Mayor, Councillor Neil Knowles, will be attendance and a service will follow in the church.

Wooburn:

A service will take place on Sunday from 10.45am Service at Wooburn Green War Memorial

A commemorative cypher in the shape of a poppy has been painted on the green to mark the occasion.
