Windsor soldier, 38, jailed for role in paedophile ring

A soldier who committed depraved sexual offences against a child may never be released from prison.

Lance Corporal Simon Davies, of Charlton Way, on the Broom Farm Estate, Windsor, was sentenced at Reading Crown Court today for 21 counts.

The 38-year-old was put behind bars for 23 years, but with an indeterminate sentence for the protection of the public, meaning he may never be freed due to the danger he poses to the public.

Davies was one of two central figures in a nationwide paedophile ring, of which three other members were sentenced on September 21.

He pleaded guilty on March 1 to nine counts of rape of a child under 13, conspiracy to rape a child, and three of aiding and abetting the rape of a child.

The Household Cavalry soldier will serve a minimum of 11-and-a-half years before he can be considered for release by the parole board, who will decide.

In sentencing, Judge Stephen John said his offences represented one of the most 'appalling catalogues of serious sexual offences possible to imagine'.
