A giant cake make entirely of 200,000 Lego bricks has been unveiled to mark the start of Legoland Windsor’s 30th year.

The colourful celebration piece took the team of five model makers 1,000 hours to design and build and is a tribute to the attractions three decades of ‘creativity, play and imagination’.

The 13-foot high Lego model, featuring birthday and Windsor-themed toppers including a Maximus the Sky Lion, Woodland Village, Minifigure Speedway’s Roxie, and Miniland’s London Skyline, went on display on Saturday, February 14.

The model also launched in time for the return of Legoland’s Brick Days to kick start the attraction’s 30th anniversary celebrations.

Brick Days will take place until Monday, February 23.

Since opening its doors in March 1996, the resort has welcomed millions of guests from across the world.

The giant cake is the first of many surprises planned throughout the year.

The Lego cake will be on display until autumn.

Legoland’s longest-serving creative duo, model makers Paula Laughton and Paula Young, were busy organising the finishing touches to the cake and together have dedicated 55 years to bringing the park’s Lego builds to life.

Ramesh Ganeson, vice president at Legoland Windsor Resort, said: “For three decades, Legoland Windsor Resort has been a place where imaginations come to life and families create memories they’ll treasure forever.

“We are so excited to celebrate our 30th year and can’t wait to open for the season and see guest’s reactions.”

Paula Young, head of creative and contracts, at Legoland Windsor Resort, said: “In my 27 years at Legoland, this moment is truly special.
