The road across Sonning Bridge is set to shut again this weekend.
Investigation work by Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) will see the road shut at Sonning Eye from 8am-5pm on Saturday and from 9am-5pm on Sunday.
The road will re-open on Saturday evening and there will be access to properties during the closure.
Work will include drilling boreholes and it will re-open to single lane traffic on Sunday evening.
A statement on OCC's website read that work to fully re-open the flood damaged road will be finished 'before next winter'.
It added engineers plan to reinstate the washed-away embankment to its original shape and height and add additional protection to the edges.
Resurfacing and reconstruction of the road will also take place.
The road was shut for weeks earlier this year due to flooding.
Dates for the work have not yet been announced.
