Vintage - it’s a label attached to weddings that’s been around for a while but doesn’t show any signs of fading away.
Maybe it’s because we are enduring difficult times financially that the usually smaller scale and more homely do, featuring old china and pre-loved clothes, is so appealing to current brides.
It’s more frugal and involves more input from family and friends to make it a success. A vintage do is no place for a fancy wedding planner with armies of suppliers lined up and costs spiralling.
Vintage has a charm all of its own. It’s about quality fabrics and materials that have lasted, individuality, a unique look, a sense of style. It’s personal.
Photographer Claire Macintyre and online vintage expert Alexandra Dewis packed up a battered trunk or two and created a vintage wedding scene at Poundon House, a very special wedding venue in Oxfordshire.
