New bridal suite is jewel in the crown after £1m Hedsor House refurbishment

The £1million refurbishment of Hedsor House has been completed.

The three-year project at the property in Cliveden Road, Taplow, involved feedback from past guests and visitors - as well as the Shephard family who own the Georgian mansion.

The works on 10 new guest rooms and a new bridal suite were completed on Wednesday, June 24, ready for use by a corporate retreat that weekend.

Construction work saw the top floor of the house converted from a small flat and office space into 10 luxury bedrooms, each with their own spectacular view across the 100 acre parkland surrounding Hedsor.

Brothers Nick, Mark and Hamish Shephard say they collaborated closely with the design teams to ensure a homely feel was given to the renovated rooms, as well as keeping original and traditional features which highlight the rooms of the country house.

Hamish said: “We have been truly delighted with the result and I know my grandparents and great-grandparents would be too.

“My grandmother’s bathroom is now our spectacular bridal suite bathroom and I know she would be very happy, and maybe a little jealous too, of all our lucky brides who will get to be pampered in it.”

The bridal suite is the jewel in the crown of the refurbishments, with three inter-connecting rooms where the bridal party can prepare for their big day.

The bedroom is one of the original family rooms when the Shephard family lived in the house.

The bathroom has original 1920s tiling which has been restored, and the dressing room was formerly a used as a conference room.

Hedsor House has also played leading roles on screen, including in Quartet and Downton Abbey, and is featured in the upcoming Tom Hardy film Legend, about the Kray twins.

Hamish added: “Hedsor is not a hotel, it is a home, and everything has gone into the design with that mantra.”
