A man who assaulted and kidnapped a woman in Woodley on Boxing Day last year has been jailed for six and a half years.
Mark Withers, 47, of Grazeley Road, Three Mile Cross, was sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Friday after pleading guilty to one count of kidnapping on the first day of his trial.
He previously admitted one count of common assault and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Withers broke into the victim's property in Munro Avenue on December 26 and assaulted the 37-year-old and her partner before forcing her from the house at knife point and into a car.
He was arrested in the early hours of 27 December, after his car registration was circulated by police.
Investigating Officer Detective Constable Nathan Adby said: "I am pleased that justice has been done and I hope this can bring some closure to the victim and her family who have shown considerable strength and courage throughout this entire harrowing experience.
"I welcome the sentence given to Withers who has clearly shown that he is violent and dangerous individual, from who the public need protecting.
"Thames Valley Police takes a robust approach in bringing offenders to justice and is dedicated to protecting individuals from dangerous offenders and looking after vulnerable victims."
