Fans of the Windsor Military Tattoo which has become an annual event in the town over the last five years have suffered a disappointment.
A spokesman confirmed this week that the spectacular event - which has seen the cream of the world's military performing intricately choreographed displays on horseback - would not be held in 2013.
There have been four Tattoos held in recent years, climaxing in a massive Diamond Jubilee performance in 2012.
The Tattoos have always coincided with Royal Windsor Horse Show in May, performed in the evening after the show has taken place during the day.
This year the show celebrates its 70th anniversary.
Organisers would not confirm or deny this week that a special event to commemorate the anniversary was on the cards and could possibly explain why the Tattoo would not be happening.
A statement is promised within the next few weeks.
