Prince Charles paid tribute to his 'mummy' when he joined the Queen for the lighting of her 90th birthday beacon in Windsor.
The Prince of Wales and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, arrived at the beacon site near Windsor Castle's Cambridge Gate on the Long Walk shortly before 7pm.
They were then joined by the Queen, wearing a green coat and headscarf, and the Duke of Edinburgh.
Prince Charles gave a short speech to the hundreds of people who had gathered in Windsor Great Park to watch the event, and began by addressing Her Majesty as 'mummy'.
He said: "This is, ladies and gentlemen, a very special occasion and the beacon Her Majesty is about to light will also represent, as it lights other beacons across the nation, the love and affection in which you are held throughout this country and the Commonwealth."
He then led the crowd in giving three cheers for the Queen, which, he said, 'might just work to light the other beacons by spontaneous combustion' if they were loud enough.
Happy Birthday was sung before the Prince was handed a torch which he passed to the monarch, who lit the fuse to light the beacon.
A series of other beacons along the length of the Long Walk were then also lit.
