It’s How We Roll has won only four times in 58 starts – but three of them have come at Windsor, writes Dave Wright.
The latest came last Monday when the nine-year-old trained by Henry Oliver took the Follow Fitzdares on Twitter and Instagram Classified Stakes at 11/1.
He was slowly away in the extended 1m 3f contest but jockey Dylan Hogan picked his way past 14 rivals to finish one-and-a-half lengths in front of the Alan King-trained 6/5 favourite Hourless, who a fortnight ago had won a juvenile hurdle race up at Hexham.
Another course and distance winner to score again at Windsor was Sterling Knight (15/2) in the sixth qualifier of the Fitzdares Sprint Series.
“He loves this place,” said rider David Probert, now fully recovered from the injury he sustained when kicked heavily by a horse in the Windsor parade ring last month.
Henry Candy’s lightly-raced Be Frank (2/1 fav) won for the second time in less than a month by landing the charleskendall.com Handicap in the hands of Dane O’Neill.
Royal Mila (1/4 fav), with Tom Marquand in the saddle, made it two wins from two with a comfortable victory in the restricted novice stakes.
It was third time lucky for Queues Likely (15/2), who after finishing down the field at Windsor and Newbury, got her nose in front in the Andy Stoddard 50th Birthday Restricted Maiden Stakes with Sean Levey doing the steering.
Third place in this five-furlong contest was debutant Acer (2/1 fav), who is owned by Ascot resident Josie Ridgers and was bred by her late husband, Peter, who died in March.
Carry On Aitch (5/1), ridden by Adam Farragher and trained by Philip McBride, won the opening race, while fellow apprentice Laura Pearson steered home 13/8 favourite Metabolt in the CL Partners 25 Year Anniversary Handicap.
