Holyport Real Tennis Club welcomed some of Britain’s leading female players last weekend as it hosted the Women’s British Open Qualifiers.
Over the course of three days, spectators enjoyed superb matches from talents including Alexandra Bryant, Araminta Oldham, Sabrina Didizian, and former British Open champion Alex Garside.
Their athleticism and precision were on display on Holyport’s historic 1889 court, offering local fans a rare chance to watch elite women’s real tennis up close.
Chairman Renaud Besnard said Holyport was proud to play its part in promoting the women’s game.
“It was a privilege to welcome such accomplished players to Holyport,” he said.
“Our members thoroughly enjoyed the tennis on show, and we remain committed to giving women and girls more opportunities to discover this wonderful sport.”
Real tennis—the centuries-old forerunner to modern lawn tennis—is played on an indoor court with unique angles, sloping roofs, and fast tactical exchanges.
Holyport RTC offers coaching, competitive play, and introductory sessions for newcomers of all ages.
The event’s standout moments were captured in striking images by sports photographer Tim Edwards.
The successful qualifiers now move on to the main draw of the Women’s British Open at Queen’s Club, where they will compete alongside the sport’s top-ranked players.
Holyport RTC welcomes newcomers who would like to discover or try real tennis for the first time. Visitors can book an introductory session, watch a match, or simply drop by to learn more about the game.
